Insider Reveals Bad News for PlayStation Fans: No December Showcase or State of Play Expected

PlayStation fans hoping for a big event to close out 2024 may be in for disappointment. Industry insider Jeff Grubb has reported that he has not heard any rumors or confirmed plans for a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play in December. Despite high expectations for an end-of-year announcement, Grubb’s lack of information suggests that PlayStation may not have any major developments planned for the immediate future.

While 2024 has already seen successful releases like Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, and Astro Bot, PlayStation fans are looking ahead to upcoming titles from Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch Productions, and Kojima Productions. However, with the year nearly over, there is no indication that fresh details on these projects will emerge in the coming weeks.

Some fans had hoped for an early winter showcase, but Grubb’s update implies that this may not happen. Instead, gamers are now turning their attention to The Game Awards 2024, where PlayStation might make big announcements, as the event has traditionally been a launchpad for major reveals from Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo.

Given the lack of buzz for a PlayStation event in December, it seems that fans will have to wait for early 2025 for any new information on the future of PlayStation 5 exclusives.
