Netflix revealed the first complete portrait of Jacob Elordi’s transformation into Frankenstein’s creature on Friday, October 24, 2025, showing the Euphoria star completely unrecognizable with pale scarred skin, absent eyebrows, and ratty dark hair extending past his shoulders in Guillermo del Toro’s gothic reimagining.
Elordi spent up to ten hours daily in the makeup chair during production, with del Toro working with just nine weeks to craft the creature look after scheduling conflicts forced Andrew Garfield’s departure. Oscar Isaac praised his costar’s dedication, calling him “both scary and strange and mysterious and graceful, and very beautiful.”
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein departed from Boris Karloff’s iconic square-headed portrayal, instead creating a statuesque, almost delicate figure. “He needs to feel like a baby, and then he needs to feel like a philosopher, like a man,” del Toro explained. Elordi drew inspiration from Japanese butoh dance and his golden retriever’s innocent movements.

Netflix releases Frankenstein November 7 after limited theatrical run starting October 17. The film stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein alongside Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance. Critics praised Elordi’s performance as “heartbreaking,” with the actor admitting “Playing The Creature changed me fundamentally.”
