Jaywon Calls Out Nigerians Over Hypocrisy in Davido Criticism

Nigerian singer Jaywon has voiced his frustration on social media regarding the backlash Davidofaced in the past for speaking about Nigeria’s issues. In a recent post on his official X account (@JAYWONJUWONLO), Jaywon questioned why Nigerians were quick to criticize Davido’s comments on the country’s struggles, yet remain silent despite ongoing challenges.

He wrote:

“The reality is clear: Nigerians are their own biggest problem.”

Jaywon’s criticism did not stop there. He also took aim at a specific fanbase, the “FCs” — widely recognized as Wizkid’s fans. Labeling 97% of them as “empty heads,” he accused them of involving themselves in matters unrelated to them. This bold statement ignited a storm of reactions across social media, with opinions divided.

While some users supported Jaywon’s call for self-reflection, others condemned his remarks as disrespectful. Critics argued that insulting a fanbase undermined his message and shifted attention away from the real issues.

Selective Outrage and Social Media Culture

Jaywon’s comments highlight the growing frustration with the perceived double standards and selective outrage on Nigerian social media. Artists and public figures often face backlash for voicing opinions on national matters, only for the same critics to remain indifferent when the issues persist.

The singer’s remarks have undoubtedly stirred discussions on the role of social media fanbases and the culture of blind loyalty that sometimes overshadows productive conversations.

As the controversy unfolds, Nigerians are left to reflect on whether they are part of the problem Jaywon addressed or whether genuine discourse will emerge from his pointed criticism.
