Jeff Bezos is calling time out on some over-the-top wedding gossip! The Amazon founder has officially denied rumors that he and fiancée Lauren Sanchez are planning a jaw-dropping $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado.
The internet lit up with speculation after reports from The Daily Mail and New York Post claimed the couple’s December 28 nuptials would be an over-the-top extravaganza worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. But Bezos, never one to shy away from setting the record straight, took to X (formerly Twitter) to squash the rumors.
“This whole thing is completely false—none of this is happening,” the billionaire wrote in response to a tweet by businessman Bill Ackman, who had also questioned the report. Bezos added, “The old adage, ‘don’t believe everything you read,’ is even more true today than it’s ever been.”
Since getting engaged in May 2023, Bezos and Sanchez have made plenty of headlines for their whirlwind romance, but a $600 million wedding? That’s a whole new level of drama—and Bezos isn’t having it.
While he denied the lavish wedding claims, Bezos also shared his frustration with how quickly fake news spreads. “Lies can get all the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on,” he joked, urging people to be careful about what they believe.
