Katie Allison Crutchfield Snocaps debut album arrived as a surprise release October 31 marking the twin sisters’ first collaborative music since defunct band P.S. Eliot . Katie, the folk-rock powerhouse behind Waxahatchee, and Allison, of indie favorite Swearin’, first teased something new two weeks ago in polaroids taken with MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook . Released through ANTI-Records, the self-titled album was produced and engineered by Brad Cook who also played on the record.
Katie Allison Crutchfield Snocaps debut album features MJ Lenderman, another of Katie’s recent collaborators who contributed to Waxahatchee’s Tigers Blood album. The four participants each played multiple instruments during recording sessions across the 13-track album . The project was born out of the twin sisters’ desire to work on music together as they had in their teens and twenties .
Katie Allison Crutchfield Snocaps debut album showcases an indie-rock record recalling Allison’s band Swearin’ and Katie’s early Waxahatchee records. Snocaps will play a handful of shows at the end of 2025 and then be put on ice for the foreseeable future . Katie stated Allison and I have been doing this together for over 20 years in some way, shape or form .
Katie Allison Crutchfield Snocaps debut album represents Allison’s first release since 2018’s Swearin’ comeback Fall into the Sun. The project marks the first time the sisters have released music together since P.S. Eliot in 2011 . Earlier this month, Allison performed alongside Katie at multiple Waxahatchee shows in California .
