Kcee Responds to Flavour’s Claims of Copying Music Style

Nigerian singer Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee, has fired back at fellow artist Flavour over claims that he’s copying Flavour’s musical style.

Recently, Flavour made a cryptic post online, hinting at someone imitating his musical approach, though he didn’t mention anyone directly. However, Kcee felt the remark was aimed at him and took to his social media to respond.

In a bold post on his X handle, Kcee asserted that he and Flavour are “not on the same level” and warned Flavour to be cautious with his accusations. Kcee also emphasized that Igbo cultural music isn’t owned by any single artist and reminded Flavour that he’s been in the industry longer.

Kcee’s post read: “Bro, we are not on the same level. Pick your battles carefully. Stop trying to gatekeep Igbo culture. You’re not a custodian. I’ve been in this game before you. It belongs to all.”

He added, “My music celebrates our heritage, and I won’t apologize. In an ocean of things that matter, you’re like a needle. People recognize authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically. Spend your energy on success, not diminishing mine.”

Kcee’s response highlights his commitment to promoting Igbo heritage and his determination to defend his creative choices.
