This edition was anchored by comedian Gbenga Adeyinka who coupled his hosting skills with his more comedic side. The first act on stage was Yemi Sax and after him came the legend KSA. Taking his time, the Juju music king taught the guests a few dance steps before launching fully into his repertoire which had guests nodding.
He started with “Eku Ikale” a track which formally welcomed guests to the show before running through his popular numbers. Joined by sexy female dancers, KSA launched into a thanksgiving song, “Mafowo yin e logo,” in appreciation of God for his colourful career. After that rendition he switched to his next song, “Great to serve the Lord,” with himself and the rest of his ensemble giving a salute, before moving on to “I have a very big God.”
Talented saxophonist, Yemi Sax, picked up the show from where KSA stopped and he didn’t disappoint as he blew the saxophone and played soothing, classic oldies to the delight of guests as they were served dinner.
Even before he appeared, there were different chants of ‘Koko Master,’ ‘Entertainer,’ ‘Banga Lee,’ ushering D’banj in. Ever the showman, D’ banj flowed seamlessly into his performance with glitz and swagger, and some ‘kokolettes’ in the hall immediately joined him by swaying to hid groove. From “Olurun maje o” to “Suddenly,” and “Mobolowo won,’ which KSA joined him to perform up stage, he performed several of his hit tracks in quick succession.
When his time was drawing to an end and stage managers were signalling him to exit, D’banj asked for more by performing “Oliver Twist.”
