Lord of War 2 Filming Finally Starts Two Decades Later

The long-awaited sequel to the 2005 crime thriller Lord of War is finally moving forward. Titled “Lords of War,” the film is reportedly set to begin shooting this month in locations including Belgium and Morocco.

The sequel will see Nicolas Cage reprise his role as notorious arms dealer Yuri Orlov, two decades after the original movie. The plot will center on a father-son twist, with Bill SkarsgĂ„rd (of It fame) joining the cast to play Orlov’s son, Anton. The younger Orlov attempts to one-up his father by launching a mercenary army to fight in Middle Eastern conflicts.

Original writer-director Andrew Niccol is also returning for the sequel, which has been in development for over two years. The film’s production had faced multiple delays but is now confirmed to be in its final stages of pre-production. The international filming schedule aims to cover four or five African and Middle Eastern countries, using Morocco’s diverse landscape.
