The iconic Y2K collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is officially back for 2025. This “Iconic Re-Edition” marks twenty years since their groundbreaking 2003 partnership, bringing a vast, multi-chapter collection of over 200 pieces. Chapter One, released in January 2025, sees the celebrated Monogram Multicolore return.
The first drop focuses on the signature Monogram Multicolore motif, which displays the LV pattern in 33 vibrant colors across white or black canvas. New versions of cherished silhouettes like the Speedy 25 and Alma BB are featured, alongside modern classics such as the OnTheGo and Side Trunk. Advanced digital printing ensures the colors are more precise than ever.
This extensive collection celebrates Murakami’s Superflat art, which blends traditional Japanese imagery with pop culture. Future chapters will introduce other highly-coveted motifs from their original collaboration. Chapter Two, launched in March, spotlights the delicate Cherry Blossom pattern, while the third chapter will feature the Cherries and Superflat Panda designs.
Re-edition pieces blend Louis Vuitton’s traditional craftsmanship with a joyful, modern flair. The sheer scale, including everything from handbags to footwear and perfumes, confirms the enduring impact of the original partnership. The new Louis Vuitton Takashi Murakami collection is set to define another generation of collectors.
