Marcus Rashford Takes Subtle Dig at Amorim After Scoring for Aston Villa

England striker Marcus Rashford appears to have taken a veiled swipe at Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim after netting his first goals for Aston Villa in their FA Cup quarter-final victory over Preston.

Rashford, who left United on loan last month, has thrived under Unai Emery, quickly becoming a key player for Villa. The club has an option to sign him permanently at the end of the season, and his brace—including a penalty—helped Villa secure a 3-0 win and a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

“I Feel Fitter and Enjoying My Football” – Rashford

Speaking after the game, Rashford suggested that his fitness and form have significantly improved since moving to Villa, indirectly implying that he wasn’t in top shape at United under Amorim.

“It’s a great feeling. I feel like I’ve been getting fitter and playing better football since I’ve been here.”

“Step by step, I think I can still get fitter. I missed a lot of football before joining up with Villa. But right now, my body feels good, I’m injury-free, and I’m enjoying my football—so all good for now.”

Rashford also spoke about Villa’s ambition, emphasizing their desire to compete on all fronts and push for a top-four finish.

Micah Richards: Rashford Suits Villa More Than United

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes Villa’s structured system under Emery suits Rashford better than Amorim’s setup at United.

“The difference is Emery has a structure, a plan. Under Ten Hag, it was difficult, and now the new manager, Amorim, has struggled to put across exactly what he wants.”

“At United, where does Rashford fit? As one of the front three? A wing-back? It doesn’t really suit him. But at Villa, everyone knows their role, and Rashford is just adding his skill, pace, and experience to an already solid system.”

Amorim had previously questioned Rashford’s commitment in training, but his resurgence at Villa suggests that a change of environment may have been exactly what he needed.

What’s Next for Rashford?

With Rashford thriving at Villa and Amorim struggling to find a place for him at United, speculation will only increase about a permanent transfer. If Rashford continues his impressive form, a summer move to Villa Park could be on the cards.
