McLaren Apology Vegas DSQ: Stella Takes Blame for Norris and Piastri

McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella has issued a public apology to drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri following their double disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix results. The McLaren Apology Vegas DSQ confirms the technical breach was caused by an internal oversight, admitting the mechanical failure was “completely on the team” rather than the drivers.

Both drivers were stripped of their points after their cars failed post-race technical inspection. The breach related to the front wing endplates, which were found to be outside the allowed geometric tolerance mandated by FIA regulations. Stella clarified on Monday that the fault was due to “human error” during rapid repairs made to the cars during the frantic race weekend.

The disqualification proved a costly error, impacting the team’s standing in the Constructors’ Championship, even though their third-place finish was mathematically secure. Stella stated his regret to the drivers, emphasizing that they performed flawlessly on track, and the failure to comply with dimensional checks was unacceptable for a team of McLaren’s stature.

The McLaren Apology Vegas DSQ is aimed at drawing a line under the unfortunate incident ahead of the final race. By taking full responsibility, Stella attempts to protect his young drivers and shift the focus back to closing the season on a strong, error-free note at the upcoming finale in Abu Dhabi.
