Former First Lady Michelle Obama definitively shut down ongoing speculation that she would run for president, telling fans to “Don’t waste my time.” Speaking during a November 5th event in Brooklyn, Obama bluntly stated Americans are “lying” about wanting her to run, believing the country is not ready for a female president.
She cited the outcome of the 2024 presidential election, in which Kamala Harris was defeated by Donald Trump, as proof that “sadly, we ain’t ready.” Obama added that “there’s still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman.” Obama has consistently ruled out a political run since leaving the White House in 2017.
