Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has shared an emotional yet surprising account of how his life improved following his son’s tragic passing. Speaking with media personality Akin Abolade, aka Mrlilgaga, Aloba attributed the sudden turnaround in his life to a mix of divine intervention and Mohbad’s spirit.
“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend,” Aloba revealed. He explained how his son had plans to support him but was hindered by external forces. “After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad and God combined that began to send people to assist me. Even the car and everything I have now were gifts from people. Those were the things he was meant to do for me, but they didn’t allow him.”
Controversy Over Mohbad’s Assets
Aloba didn’t shy away from addressing controversies surrounding Mohbad’s assets. He claimed that his son’s wife, Wunmi, and her family were heavily involved in managing his properties. “All his landed property is in their possession,” he alleged, adding that even the land meant for a church Mohbad promised to build for him was used for the singer’s burial.
Two weeks before his death, Mohbad reportedly showed his father a house he intended to buy after completing his tour. Aloba expressed heartbreak over the unrealized plans, reflecting on the close bond he shared with his son.
A Turning Point in Aloba’s Life
Aloba shared that Mohbad’s birth marked a new chapter in his life. Funds from Mohbad’s naming ceremony were stolen, pushing him to become a singer. “He started backing me up at just one year old,” he recalled with pride.
