Napoli’s Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna, has addressed the growing speculation surrounding Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s desire to leave the club, stating that the situation is currently “blocked.” Osimhen has made it clear he wants to move on, with top European clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG reportedly interested, yet none have met Napoli’s asking price.
Manna, speaking to Sky Sport Italia, emphasized the importance of Osimhen to the team and the complexity of the situation. “It’s an objective fact, as the coach mentioned, the situation is blocked. Victor is a crucial player with significant value and conditions,” Manna stated. “His desire to move is clear, but we’ve worked hard to maintain the squad’s integrity at this moment. We’re not the only club facing this kind of challenge, and we’ll see what unfolds in the next 10 days.”
When asked whether Osimhen was leaning towards joining Chelsea, PSG, or Arsenal, Manna remained tight-lipped. “At this time, it’s not appropriate to speculate on any feelings or preferences. We’re in discussions with his entourage to find the best possible solution. As we said, he’s an important player, and you can’t just replace someone like him easily,” he added.
Manna also hinted at the possibility of further discussions with Osimhen if a transfer doesn’t materialize by the end of the transfer window. “He is under contract for another two seasons, so if we don’t reach a resolution by August 30, we’ll need to have a conversation with the player,” Manna concluded.
As the transfer window deadline approaches, the future of Victor Osimhen remains uncertain, with Napoli keen to retain their star player unless a suitable offer comes through.
