Offset is taking legal action against ChaseTheMoney, a producer who worked on his 2023 album Set It Off, after claims that the beatmaker demanded higher fees and royalties long after their original agreement was finalized.
The Lawsuit: What Went Down?
Filed in a Los Angeles federal court on March 11, 2025, Offset’s legal team argues that ChaseTheMoney (real name Chase Rose) had already agreed on payment terms for producing the track “Worth It.” However, months after the album’s release, the producer’s new manager allegedly came forward, pushing for a fivefold increase in fees and double the agreed-upon royalty percentage.
When Offset’s team refused to renegotiate, ChaseTheMoney allegedly shifted tactics, claiming that the original manager who negotiated the deal, J Hill, was never actually his manager. However, Offset’s lawsuit provides text messages and written confirmations proving that ChaseTheMoney himself had directed Offset’s team to J Hill for deal negotiations.
Offset Wants the Court to Settle It
Rather than accusing ChaseTheMoney of wrongdoing, Offset’s lawsuit seeks a declaratory judgment—meaning he simply wants the court to confirm that the original contract is valid and enforceable. This would shut down any further demands for extra compensation.
Interestingly, when Billboard reached out to ChaseTheMoney for comment, the producer denied being sued, claiming it was “the other way around”—only to delete his messages shortly after.
Offset’s History with Lawsuits
This isn’t the first time Offset has gone to court over contract disputes. In 2022, he filed a similar lawsuit against Quality Control Music, the label behind Migos, claiming they were trying to maintain control over his solo career despite him buying out his contract. That case was eventually dropped in 2023.
What’s Next?
As Offset gears up for legal proceedings, fans are watching closely to see how this royalty battle plays out. Will the judge side with Offset and uphold the original contract, or will ChaseTheMoney’s team be able to argue for new terms?
