Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has been laid to rest in a private funeral held at his Buckinghamshire home on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The 76-year-old Black Sabbath frontman was buried on the grounds of his sprawling 250-acre estate, near a tranquil lake behind the family’s manor.
The ceremony was kept intimate, with only close friends and family in attendance. A wreath of purple flowers spelling out “Ozzy” and other purple arrangements bearing the words “OZZY F****** OSBOURNE” were placed beside the burial plot, setting a deeply personal tone for the farewell.
According to reports, marquees and a small stage were set up beside the lake for the send-off, which was attended by a select group of guests, including Sir Elton John and members of Metallica. The private service followed an emotional public procession through Ozzy’s hometown of Birmingham just a day earlier.
On Wednesday, Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne, 72, and children Aimee, Jack, Kelly, and Louis led a touching funeral procession through the streets of Birmingham. Thousands of fans gathered as a Jaguar hearse carrying Ozzy’s coffin passed through significant locations, including his childhood home.
The tribute procession featured a live brass band from Bostin’ Brass playing iconic Black Sabbath hits, with six Mercedes funeral cars and a police escort accompanying the hearse. Sharon wore her late husband’s ring on a chain, Kelly sported Ozzy’s trademark round sunglasses, and Louis wore a purple tie in his father’s honor.
At the Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street, the family paused to read tributes and connect with the fans who had come to say their final goodbyes. Sharon was seen embracing Birmingham’s Lord Mayor, Zafar Iqbal, while family members flashed peace signs in tribute to the Prince of Darkness.
Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy lives on through his music, his fans, and the indelible mark he left on rock and heavy metal.
