Ozzy Osbourne’s last chapter is being immortalized on screen. The legendary Black Sabbath frontman, who sadly passed away earlier this week at age 76 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, spent his final months being filmed for a new docuseries titled Home To Roost.
The documentary follows Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne as they relocated back to Buckinghamshire, England, after spending two decades in the United States. Their son Jack Osbourne confirmed the filming during an interview with Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine — a conversation that took place shortly before Ozzy’s passing.
Jack also revealed that Ozzy had completed work on his autobiography, Last Rites, which is still expected to be released later this year.
In addition to the docuseries, Jack is also working as a co-producer on an upcoming Ozzy biopic, covering his Black Sabbath era and early solo career.
“We’re definitely going for a more adult rating… this is by no means going to be a fluff piece,” Jack shared, noting that the script is currently being rewritten by Dallas Buyers Club screenwriter Craig Borten.
Ozzy’s death was announced in a heartfelt family statement:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
Reports say Ozzy died at his home in Buckinghamshire, surrounded by Sharon and their children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis. Family members had flown in from Los Angeles and Idaho, making sure to be by his side during his final days.
A family friend told MailOnline:
“There was much hope that he would be around for a lot longer than this… but it’s so lovely that he had his children around him during his last days.”
The docuseries Home To Roost is now likely to take on a deeply emotional tone, giving fans one last intimate look at the man who redefined heavy metal and lived a life as wild as his music.
