Pete Davidson Says He’s “Finally Ready” for Fatherhood as He Prepares to Welcome First Child with Elsie Hewitt

Pete Davidson is officially stepping into a new chapter — fatherhood — and he couldn’t be more thrilled. The 31-year-old comedian, best known for his time on Saturday Night Live, is expecting his first child with 29-year-old model Elsie Hewitt, and he says he’s finally in a place where he feels ready to take on the role of dad.

“It’s the most exciting thing ever. I don’t even really have words,” Pete said in an interview with Extra. “I just can’t wait for it. I feel like I’m finally in a place where I’m ready for it.”

From Comedy Stages to Changing Diapers

Pete admits he doesn’t know exactly what to expect — after all, this is his first time entering parenthood — but he feels as prepared as he possibly can be.

“I’m not a parent yet, but I feel like I’m the best I could be now. I’m glad it’s happening now, for sure.”

Learning on Set: Keke Palmer’s Parenting Inspired Him

While filming the upcoming comedy-heist movie The Pickup, Pete witnessed co-star Keke Palmerjuggling motherhood and acting with grace — and it gave him a powerful realization.

“Keke’s baby was just born and she had him on set the whole time. She would do a take, then run over and play with the baby. It made me realise it’s possible to co-exist in both worlds.”

Parenting Advice from Eddie Murphy? Yes, Please.

Pete also got some encouragement from acting legend and father of 10, Eddie Murphy, who offered the kind of cool, low-pressure advice only Eddie could give.

“He goes, ‘I have no advice. Because you can’t really tell anybody how to raise their own kid. But it’s going to change your life and you’re going to love it, and I know you’ll be good at it.’”

Pete added, “That’s a cool thing to get from your idol, you know?”

Elsie Is “A Trouper”

Pete had nothing but praise for his girlfriend, calling Elsie strong and resilient — especially as she navigates pregnancy with endometriosis, a painful condition she’s been managing for years.

“She’s a trouper. She’s a strong woman. She has endo, so she’s no stranger to pain. But she’s smilin’ all the time, keeping me smilin’. So we’re good.”

With the baby expected later in 2025, it’s clear Pete is embracing this next stage of life with open arms, humor, and heartfelt excitement. From stand-up stages to diaper duty, Davidson seems ready to dive into his most important role yet: Dad.
