Petition Launched Against Chidimma Adetshina’s Participation in Miss Universe 2024

A South African group known as Progressive Forces has initiated a petition urging the organizers of Miss Universe to prevent Chidimma Adetshina from competing in the 2024 pageant. This comes after Adetshina arrived in Mexico to represent Nigeria at the global competition scheduled for November.

Adetshina’s journey has been marred by controversy, particularly during her time in the Miss South Africa contest. Allegations surfaced suggesting that her mother was involved in fraud and identity theft, leading Adetshina to withdraw from the South African pageant and accept an invitation to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria instead.

In light of these developments, Progressive Forces filed a petition on Wednesday, arguing that Adetshina’s participation could undermine the integrity of the Miss Universe brand. Within just 24 hours, the petition garnered over 1,000 signatures.

The group expressed their concerns, stating, “We are greatly concerned about Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria, whose mother has been found guilty of committing identity fraud. On the 29th of October, Home Affairs cancelled Chidimma Adetshina and her mother’s identities by court order. We are writing on behalf of everyone who stands for justice to plead with Miss Universe to cancel her entry.”

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Miss Universe organizers will respond to the petition and the controversies surrounding Adetshina.
