Princess Andre Opens Up: “I Wish I Had a Happier Childhood”

Princess Andre is speaking her truth. The 18-year-old daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre has opened up about her complicated upbringing in her new ITV2 reality show, The Princess Diaries, revealing that despite some happy moments, her childhood was marked by emotional turmoil and instability.

In a heartfelt confession, Princess shared that she’s been in and out of therapy to help process everything she’s been through.

“I did have a counsellor, I do still see her every now and then,” she said. “But I don’t feel like I can really talk, so I just write everything down in my notes.”

Reflecting on her early years, she added:

“I do wish I could have had a happier childhood. I had so many things on my plate at a young age.”

While Princess cherishes the memories she made with her parents before their split, she admitted things took a turn for the worse when her mum, Katie Price, divorced her third husband, Kieran Hayler — a figure who had played a fatherly role in her life.

“He was in our lives for like five years, so we got really close to him. When they split up, everything kind of went downhill.”

Princess spoke candidly about the emotional aftermath of that breakup and how it affected her relationship with her mother.

“My mum, obviously being heartbroken, didn’t deal with it in the best way. She went through a very, very dark time… and when we needed our mum there, she wasn’t emotionally able to be there because she had so much of her own problems going on.”

The emotional scars still linger, as Princess admitted she’s not completely healed:

“I could speak about my childhood and be absolutely fine, but then once something sets me off… I’m like ‘Oh my God’. I wouldn’t say I’m fully recovered, but mum is such a different person now. If you put her now next to back then — she’s genuinely really fixed herself.”

Princess’s honesty has struck a chord with viewers, many praising her bravery and emotional maturity. As her journey unfolds on The Princess Diaries, she’s proving she’s not just the daughter of famous parents — she’s a young woman reclaiming her voice and healing on her own terms.
