Rema Donates N150 Million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City

Nigerian international music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made a generous donation of N150 million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State. The donation was made during his visit to the church as part of the Edo@33 celebrations, where he also participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and performed at a musical concert at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Rema, who is originally from Edo State, made the donation to the Edo Regional Headquarters of the church on Erediauwa Street off Ekenwa Road. He expressed that the gesture was in appreciation of the church’s support for his family during a difficult time in his childhood, particularly after the loss of his father when he was just eight years old.

During a thanksgiving service at the church, Rema shared how the church played a significant role in his family’s life. He recounted how, after his father’s death, they felt lost and abandoned, with everything they had being taken from them. The church, led by Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, stepped in to support his family, including opening a shop for his mother, which helped them survive during that challenging period.

Rema stated, “I am not here to give myself any form of accolades or glory but to give to God the glory. And, I felt it was important to give back to the church that has embraced me, prayed for me, and kept me very consistent with my spirit.”

In a detailed breakdown of his donation, Rema pledged:

  • N40 million for the infrastructural development of the church,
  • N20 million for the Rhapsody of Realities publication,
  • N25 million to the church’s teen department, from where he originated,
  • An additional N20 million to assist widows present in the church during the service.

This act of generosity by Rema highlights his deep sense of gratitude and commitment to giving back to the community that supported him in his early years.
