Roblox Cracks Down on Safety: New Restrictions to Protect Young Players

Roblox is stepping up its game when it comes to protecting young players with a new set of restrictions aimed at enhancing child safety on the platform. With millions of kids flocking to Roblox to play, build, and interact, the platform has become a popular hub—but it’s also faced criticism over concerns about what children might encounter online. To address these worries, Roblox has introduced a series of features designed to give both parents and kids a safer, more controlled experience.

Effective immediately, players under the age of 9 will be limited to only games that are rated Mild or lower, with the option to access more content through parental consent. But the biggest changes are yet to come. In the months ahead, Roblox will roll out even stricter restrictions for players under 13, including blocking direct messaging outside of games, restricting public broadcast messages, and ensuring all experiences are rated with a Content Label before they can be accessed by younger players.

To give parents more control, Roblox now lets them monitor screen time, track friends lists, and set limits on how much kids can spend, how long they can play, and what content they can access. These new parental tools come in response to mounting concerns over child safety, including a class-action lawsuit filed in 2023 that accused Roblox of failing to properly filter content for younger users.

With these enhanced safety measures, Roblox is working to give parents peace of mind while letting kids enjoy their virtual adventures. Whether it’s limiting chats, controlling playtime, or simply ensuring content is appropriate, these new features are designed to keep the fun safe and secure for younger audiences.
