Rush Hour 4 Confirmed, Reportedly Due to Trump’s Push

The long-dormant buddy-cop franchise “Rush Hour” is officially being revived, with Paramount Pictures agreeing to distribute the fourth installment. The decision comes after President Donald Trump reportedly urged the studio’s leadership to move forward with the film.

According to multiple reports, Trump personally pressed the largest shareholder of Paramount Skydance, Larry Ellison, to greenlight the sequel, which has been stalled for nearly two decades. The move is seen by some as part of a wider effort to bring back what Trump views as “classical masculinity” in Hollywood cinema.

• Cast & Director: The film is expected to reunite original stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as Inspector Lee and Detective Carter.

• Controversial Return: Brett Ratner, who directed the first three films, is also reportedly returning, marking his first major feature film since facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct in 2017.

The deal sees Paramount handling the distribution on behalf of Warner Bros., the original owner of the franchise.
