Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell Reunite for Action-Comedy Tough Guys

Dynamic duo in talks to star and produce new Amazon MGM Studios project

Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell are teaming up once again—this time for an action-packed, laugh-filled ride in the upcoming film Tough Guys.

The two Hollywood stars are reportedly in final talks to both star in and produce the action-comedy, currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The film promises a mix of explosive action and signature comedy, marking a high-profile collaboration between two A-list fan favorites.

The Plot

According to the official synopsis, Tough Guys centers on:

“Two henchmen who are fed up with being ‘disposable.’ They break free from the criminal underworld, abandon their ruthless boss, and go on the run while being hunted by a top-tier assassin.”

The script, penned by Daniel Gold, immediately caught Gosling’s eye—so much so that he personally helped bring Ferrell on board.

Backed by Strong Studio Ties

Both actors have an existing relationship with Amazon MGM:

Gosling, 44, is already starring in their upcoming sci-fi thriller Project Hail Mary, set for release next year.

Ferrell, 58, featured in the studio’s romantic comedy You’re Cordially Invited earlier this year.

Producing Powerhouses

Gosling is also in talks to produce Tough Guys through his General Admission banner, alongside Jessie Henderson. Meanwhile, Ferrell is expected to produce via Gloria Sanchez Productions with his long-time collaborator Jessica Elbaum.

What’s Next for Gosling? A Galaxy Far, Far Away

The Barbie and La La Land actor isn’t slowing down. Gosling is also set to headline the upcoming Star Wars movie titled Starfighter, directed by Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy.

Levy gushed about working with Gosling, calling it a “dream come true”, and promised the film will deliver a “new and original” take on the beloved franchise.

“If you can have Ryan Gosling in anything you make, do that,” Levy said. “It’s going to make the thing so much better and cooler.”

Gosling, a lifelong Star Wars fan, called the project deeply personal and revealed he’s been obsessed with the galaxy since childhood—complete with Star Wars-themed bedsheets to prove it.

Between Tough Guys and Starfighter, it’s clear Gosling’s star is burning brighter than ever—and with Ferrell by his side, audiences can expect something both hilarious and explosive.
