Serena Williams Claps Back at Skin-Bleaching Rumors: “I Love Who I Am”

Despite retiring over two years ago, tennis legend Serena Williams continues to face unfounded criticism, this time addressing rumors that she bleaches her skin. The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who ended her career at the 2022 US Open and recently welcomed her second daughter, has been busy focusing on her beauty brand Wyn Beauty and other ventures. But during a recent Instagram Live makeup tutorial, Williams decided to set the record straight.

After a video surfaced from her daughter’s school event where critics speculated about her complexion, Williams firmly shut down the claims.

“No, for you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin. There is a thing called sunlight, and in that sunlight, you get different colors.”

Williams called out the ridiculousness of the accusations, expressing pride in her identity.

I’m a dark, Black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look

she declared, adding that she has no issue with others choosing to lighten their skin but emphasized it’s not something she practices.

I don’t judge, but you guys do.I stay in my lane — the non-judgy one… but no, I actually don’t bleach my skin, so can we just kinda clear that up?

As always, Williams delivered her message with grace and strength, reminding her detractors that she remains unapologetically herself. Fans were quick to show their support for the tennis icon, praising her self-confidence and refusal to entertain negativity.

Williams continues to inspire both on and off the court, proving that her legacy isn’t just about championships but also about standing tall in the face of criticism.
