Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale has opened up about losing a jaw-dropping $4 million record deal, and the story is as dramatic as it gets. According to the artist, his former manager, Bullgod, is the villain in this tale, allegedly leaking the tracklist of his highly anticipated Gift of God album and sabotaging the deal.
Shatta didn’t hold back during an interview on Kessben FM, explaining that the Gift of God album was a major project featuring international collaborations and backed by a top-tier record label’s rollout plan. But that dream came crashing down when the tracklist mysteriously appeared online.
I lost a $4 million record deal because of Bullgod After i illegally published the tracklist, the record company backed out. I tried to explain it was my former manager’s doing, but they still refused. It was heartbreaking.
The artist believes Bullgod acted out of spite following the end of their professional relationship, aiming to tarnish his image. Originally set for a 2020 release, Gift of God faced delays due to the pandemic and was ultimately released independently in 2022.
Despite the chaos, Shatta Wale still holds the album close to his heart, calling it a timeless body of work that delivers a unique musical experience for his fans. While the $4 million may be gone, Shatta’s passion and resilience remain unshaken!
