Snoop Dogg recently opened up about the late Tupac Shakur’s impact on his life, particularly how the legendary rapper helped him become a better father to his eldest son, Corde. In a heartfelt interview with People, Snoop, 52, shared stories from the time he was working on his sophomore album, Tha Doggfather, in 1996, when Corde was still a baby.
Snoop fondly recalled bringing Corde to the studio, where Tupac took on a paternal role, guiding Snoop on how to care for his child. “Tupac loved him. It was like his nephew. Tupac was a better dad than me,” Snoop said with a smile, reflecting on how Shakur would remind him of basic fatherly duties, like feeding his son. “We had been up in the studio for three hours, and we hadn’t given him anything to eat. Pac was training me.”
Their bond was cut short when Tupac was tragically shot in a drive-by in September 1996 and passed away six days later at the age of 25. Despite this loss, Snoop carried the lessons forward, becoming a more attentive father to Corde, now 30, and his younger son Cordell, 27, who was born the following year.
Snoop’s reflection serves as a touching reminder of Tupac’s influence beyond music, extending into family and fatherhood.
