Steam Game Malware Crypto Theft Hits Cancer Fund
A streamer known as rastalandTV, who is battling stage 4 cancer, had over $32,000 in cryptocurrency funds intended for his treatment stolen after downloading a malicious game from Steam.

The game, reportedly a 2D platformer called “BlockBlasters,” was a front for “drainware” that emptied the streamer’s crypto wallet. The malicious code was reportedly added in an update to the previously legitimate, verified game after threat actors (hackers) allegedly contacted streamers to promote it.

Investigators found that the Steam game malware crypto theft scam, which has now been removed by Valve, affected hundreds of users and stole over $150,000 total.
