strangers kissing for the first time?, It’s an ad for a clothing line

Let this be a lesson. All that’s viral probably has a hidden back story. Remember that video of
20 strangers kissing for the first time that we passionately loved and
helped go viral? It’s an advertisement for a clothing brand that scored
nearly 20 million YouTube views in two days by getting 20 strangers to
kiss each other.

AdWeek
reported the video titled ‘First Kiss’ that features strangers meeting
for the first time and kissing on camera are all wearing LA fashion
label Wren’s fall 2014 clothing collection. The awkward small talk,
nervous laughter and tentative movements are captured brilliantly in the
3-minute video that has now gone viral.

Nothing is as it seems on the Internet. The Oscar selfie clicked
by Ellen Degeneres, that broke the Internet on March 3, 2014 for its
epic composition, was a paid feature for Samsung.

Most things that go viral these days are campaigns planned days in
advance. This and the Oscar ad shows that there are some truly brilliant
agencies behind these viral campaigns. They have completely changed
user interaction on the Internet. If you fell for the mushy kissing ad,
you are not the only one. We wrote this and this after the ad came out.

The success of the campaign lies in the end reaction of its
target audience and its lasting impact. Now that you know it’s an ad,
bet you still don’t mind watching it again.
