Terence Crawford Stripped of World Title
Just days after his historic victory over Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford has been stripped of his WBA super welterweight title. The decision comes after Crawford’s team informed the World Boxing Association (WBA) that he has no intention of returning to the 154-pound division to defend the belt.
The WBA has officially promoted interim champion Abass Baraou to full world champion. Baraou, a German boxer, had won the interim title last month after a unanimous decision victory over Yoenis Tellez. While losing the title, Crawford’s reputation remains untarnished, as he now holds the undisputed super middleweight title and is the first male boxer to be an undisputed champion in three different weight divisions.
