One of Crunchyroll’s biggest breakout anime hits of the last few years, the historical fantasy series The Apothecary Diaries, is officially confirmed to return next year with an extensive schedule. The announcement confirms both a multi-part new season and a surprise theatrical movie, signaling a massive expansion for the franchise following its runaway success.
The highly anticipated Season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries is set to premiere its first part in October 2026, as part of the Fall anime schedule. The new season will span two cours (parts), with the second half scheduled for the Spring 2027 season. This robust return is a testament to the show’s soaring popularity with both critics and viewers.
In an exciting reveal, fans will also be treated to a brand-new feature film set to release in Japan in December 2026. The movie is slated to tell an original story penned by the light novel series’ author, Natsu Hyuga. This theatrical debut follows the box office success of other popular anime, such as Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man.
The Apothecary Diaries follows Maomao, a sharp-witted apothecary who solves mysteries and manages ailments within the lavish, political atmosphere of the Emperor’s inner court. Crunchyroll streams the first two seasons and will stream the third season upon its release, ensuring global access to the continuing adventures of the beloved heroine.
