Thuso Mbedu Stars in HBO’s New Crime Drama, Task
South African actress Thuso Mbedu has landed a major role in the new American crime drama miniseries, Task, which premiered on HBO on September 7, 2025.
The series, from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby, stars Mark Ruffalo as an FBI agent leading a task force to investigate a string of violent robberies. Mbedu plays a no-nonsense Chester detective sergeant named Aleah Clinton, who is part of the team.
Mbedu, widely known for her roles in The Underground Railroad and The Woman King, has been praised for her portrayal of the sharp, disciplined detective, whose backstory with domestic violence adds emotional depth to the gritty Philadelphia-set procedural.
