Tobey Maguire and his ex-wife Jennifer Meyer may have finalized their divorce years ago, but the custody battle over their youngest child is far from over. The Spider-Man actor, 50, and the 48-year-old jewelry designer are still working through legal issues surrounding their 16-year-old son, Otis Tobias, despite calling it quits back in 2016 and filing for divorce in 2020.
According to court documents obtained by People, Tobey is now seeking joint legal and physical custody of Otis. He also requested that child support matters be resolved privately through mediation. The former couple also shares an 18-year-old daughter, Ruby Sweetheart.
Tobey and Jennifer first met in 2003 on the set of Seabiscuit and were engaged three years later. They welcomed Ruby in 2006, got married in 2007, and had Otis in 2009. By 2016, they announced their separation, saying in a joint statement, “As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”
While Tobey seems to be flying solo these days, Jennifer has moved on and is now engaged to billionaire heir Geoffrey Ogunlesi — son of Nigerian billionaire and top investment banker, Adebayo Ogunlesi. The couple went public with their relationship in late 2023 and announced their engagement in September, with Jennifer gushing “YES!!!” on Instagram.
Despite their differences, Tobey and Jennifer reunited last month to celebrate Ruby’s high school graduation, proudly posing for photos as a united front. Jennifer shared the sweet moment on Instagram, writing: “Congratulations Ruby!!!!! Graduate of our dreams. We are so proud of you in every way. We love love love love love you baby ”
Meanwhile, Tobey has sparked headlines of his own, recently being linked to 22-year-old Danish model Mona Tougaard. He was also spotted vacationing with several young women across Europe and New York last summer, drawing attention for his noticeably active social life.
