Defensive Lock-Up: Ravens Sign Travis Jones to 3-Year Extension

The Baltimore Ravens continued their strategy of rewarding homegrown talent, announcing a major contract extension for defensive tackle Travis Jones. The Travis Jones Ravens Extension is a three-year deal worth $40.5 million, with a significant $25 million guaranteed. The agreement, finalized Thursday, locks up one of the team’s most dominant interior defenders and prevents him from hitting the free-agent market in 2026.

Jones, a third-round pick in 2022, was entering the final year of his rookie contract but has broken out this season, earning elite grades as an interior run-stuffer. General Manager Eric DeCosta called Jones an “ascending player” whose presence “man[s] the middle” of the defense. The 26-year-old has been a crucial element of the Ravens’ defensive identity, playing 67% of the defensive snaps this season.

The timing of the deal is critical, as it resolves a potential grievance filed by the player’s agent that could have made Jones an unrestricted free agent next year. By being aggressive, the Ravens secured the young nose tackle who was highly regarded as one of the top defensive free agents available for 2026. The substantial guaranteed money reflects his value as an anchor against the run.

By securing the defensive anchor through the 2028 season, the Ravens have solidified their defensive front for years to come. The Travis Jones Ravens Extension ensures that Baltimore retains its identity as a physical, run-stopping powerhouse, guaranteeing “Big Trav” will continue to be a core piece of the defense.
