Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has admitted that his future at Anfield remains uncertain as he enters the final months of his contract.
The 33-year-old Dutch defender, along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is yet to agree on a new deal with Liverpool, sparking speculation about his long-term commitment to the club.
Van Dijk: “I Have No Idea What Will Happen”
After Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, Van Dijk openly addressed the uncertainty surrounding his future.
“I still have no idea at the moment. Genuinely,” he admitted.
“At the moment, I don’t even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that’s about it.”
When asked whether talks had been put on hold to focus on Liverpool’s title chase, Van Dijk clarified:
“It is not on hold. Nothing is on hold. There are 10 games to go in the Premier League, and that is my full focus. If there is news, you guys will know it. I don’t even know myself.”
Liverpool’s Title Push and Uncertain Summer
Liverpool, currently 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League, are strong favorites to win the title under Arne Slot. The club also faces Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
However, the summer could bring major changes, with contract situations surrounding key players like Van Dijk, Salah, and Alexander-Arnold needing resolution. Until then, Liverpool fans will be hoping their captain remains focused on delivering silverware before any potential departure.
