The game is officially afoot! The highly anticipated third installment in the Rian Johnson-helmed franchise, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” is now streaming globally on Netflix today, Friday, December 12, 2025. Master detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, returns for what is being teased as his “most dangerous case yet,” trading the sun-drenched satire of Glass Onion for a much darker, Gothic tone.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film features the franchise’s traditional all-star ensemble, which includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott. This time, Blanc is called in to solve an “impossible murder” at a small-town church in upstate New York, a setting that allows the film to explore themes of morality and faith within the classic whodunit structure.
The title, Wake Up Dead Man, continues Rian Johnson’s tradition of naming his mysteries after popular songs (following Radiohead’s “Knives Out” and The Beatles’ “Glass Onion”). The film had a limited theatrical run starting in November but is expected to dominate global streaming charts now that it has hit Netflix. Early fan reaction praises the film for being the most emotional and darkest chapter yet.
With an incredible ensemble cast and a sharp turn toward high-suspense mystery, “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” is the perfect holiday watch for detective fans. The new film ensures that Benoit Blanc’s signature Southern charm, coupled with a perfectly complex crime, will keep audiences guessing until the very last frame.
