Wizkid Best-Selling African Artist: Cheb Khaled Holds Top Spot

Afrobeats icon Wizkid has officially been ranked as the second Wizkid Best-Selling African Artist of all time, according to music industry reports and charting bodies. The Nigerian superstar trails only the Algerian Raï legend Cheb Khaled, confirming the immense commercial power of African music globally.

Khaled, known as the “King of Raï,” remains the undisputed leader, credited with selling over 80.5 million albums and units worldwide, making him the best-selling Arabic-language singer in history.

Wizkid’s 65 Million Unit Milestone

Wizkid’s sales figures place him firmly in second place. Verified reports indicate that the “Starboy” has now sold over 65 million units globally across albums, singles, and collaborations. This achievement solidifies his status as the highest-selling Afrobeats artist in history.

This monumental figure is driven by record-breaking international streams and certifications, including being the first African artist to surpass 20 billion global audio-on-demand streams. His success, particularly with the globally celebrated Made in Lagos album and the hit single “Essence,” has been instrumental in the genre’s current global dominance. While Khaled paved the way for North African artists, Wizkid is leading the charge for the contemporary Sub-Saharan sound.
