Wizkid’s ‘Morayo’ Tops Billboard’s New Music Poll

Wizkid’s latest album, Morayo, has captured global attention, earning 78% of votes in this week’s Billboard all-genre new music poll. Released under Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records, the album outshined projects from ROSÉ, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, and Ariana Grande, among others.

The album, meaning “I see joy” in Yoruba, is a heartfelt tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun. In an earlier interview with Esquire, Wizkid described it as deeply personal, aimed at lifting spirits and spreading positive energy.

The 16-track collection, a follow-up to his 2022 release More Love, Less Ego, features collaborations with Jazmine Sullivan, Brent Faiyaz, Asake, Anaïse, and Tiakola. Its lead single, Piece of My Heart, featuring Brent Faiyaz, debuted in October and peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and No. 7 on World Digital Song Sales.

With Morayo, Wizkid continues to push Afrobeats to the forefront of global music, solidifying his status as one of the genre’s most influential artists.
